Sunny did at one time pass a herding instinct test. However, he flunked out of this weekend seminar, which featured some pretty mean sheep. Here, the meanest of them all, Bossie, has just head-butted Sunny. The teacher's border collie looks on in disgust from the foreground.

Scott takes the plunge and goes for the Mr. Clean look, with the help of Elaine from Cut to the Chase Salon.

December 28, 2008
Laura and I went off the Jordan's Furniture Colossal Clearance Center to find a dresser for her (success!), where we also came across this chair that Scott might enjoy. Looks like Jordan's already knew the Patriots weren't making the playoffs and banished the chair.

December 25, 2008
Today we said goodbye to Louis, who passed away at age 20. Even on his last day, he was out and about, hanging with the rest of us.

December 24, 2008
Laura's been packing in anticipation of her move to Boston, to live with eight other like-minded individuals at the Heartbeat Collective.

December 8, 2008
No one got hurt, and it wasn't Laura's fault. A new driver pulled out of a sidestreet and collided with the front driver's side door of the minivan. To add insult to injury, we subsequently found out that the minivan has been on the road for months with an expired inspection sticker. Of course, you can't get a new inspection sticker with a broken headlight...

Emily is a runner! Here's her official photo for her runng club.

October 4, 2008
Sunny aces his Pembroke Welsh Corgi Herding Instinct test! It happened so fast, we didn't get a photo, but here's a shot of Sunny's mom, Betty, herding the sheep, with the help of her 'mom' Carla.

Miriam and Sunny had a fantastic time at Camp Gone-to-the-Dogs. This is one of a series of photos of Sunny lure coursing.

May 25, 2008
Having survived the invastion of the Blakes and Williams for Christopher's graduation, Scott, Miriam, Jean, and of course Sunny, were off to Florida in the Aztec for a little vacation. We were tickled to see that Sunny is the mascot for Mutt Muffs. Here he is modeling them in the back seat of N62721 with his aunt Jean.

Cheers! Miriam, Jean, Sunny, Addie, and Naomi celebrate after hosting a graduation party for Christopher, who made it through the Boston College Commencement the next day.

January 1, 2008
It's an expensive walk for Sunny when Miriam's car gets stuck in the parking lot at Grassy Pond. Scott comes to the rescue, but he gets stuck too! Luckily Rich and his wife were on call at Sully's Auto and came to pull us out. They win the prize for having the happiest New Year's Day together, tooling around town helping people.

December 30, 2007
Em and Laura's Aunt Margaret and her corgi, Nelson come for a visit. Nelson (here on Scott's left) memorializes his presence by peeing twice indoors. The 'boys' have fun chasing each other around the house, but we see the dark side of Sunny when he gets jealous of Nelson playing with his toys.

December 16, 2007
Laura moves in for some time off from college to work and study dance. Here, Sunny supervises the unpacking. Note Laura's brand new Massachusetts Learner's Permit on the clipboard. It only took three trips to the registry to convince them that Laura is now a resident of MA. After that, passing the written test was no problem.

December 16, 2007
Here's an action shot from Sunny's play-date with Claude, the Bichon from apartment 27. Sunny's wearing his citronella-spray collar, which is supposed to convince him to not bark. Unfortunately, he's not bothered much by the spray or the smell.

November 24, 2007
Here's the best result from the 2007 Holiday Card Photo Shoot. By the end, both Louis and Sunny wanted out!

September 15, 2007
Sunny (and Scott and Miriam) graduate from Level One Obedience at Gemini. It's much more about training the owner than training the dog. Onward to Obedience Two and Agility!

July 21, 2007
Today we picked up Sunny from Moosehill Corgis. Lots more about Sunny on his own website.

July, 2007
Emily went to Japan, and took lots of pictures.

June 5, 2007
Our first overnight dog test! Miriam's friend lent us Zoe, possibly the best-behaved dog on the planet, for an overnight. We've had several day-visits from dogs, but would Louis the cat tolerate a dog overnight? Success! Louis was definitely wary, but at one point the two almost touched noses. Here's a shot of 'king' Louis and his handmaiden, Zoe.

December 24, 2006
Laura made her specialty, meringue mushrooms, for Margaret's Christmas Eve party. They look so much like real mushrooms, people have to be convinced to eat them!

December 18, 2006
Emily accepted a real job as a research technician at MIT.

October 28, 2006
Emily and Ayman as Paris Hilton and Borat (Scott now knows who Borat is) for Halloween.

September 16, 2006
After over a year here at the mill, Scott and I finally agree on a rug for the living room. And it turns out to be on sale!
A couple of weeks later, we decide the rug is really too small, and if we get another one it will still look pretty good if we put them side by side.
But finding another rug was tough - it had been discontinued. Finally, the only one left in the world was delivered, and, lo and behold, it was the mirror image of our original!

September 9, 2006
Scott takes some of the younger generation cruising on the Charles River. (l-r)Christopher, TJ, Sombah, and Brandon in the boat; Emily and Ayman on the dock.

September 3, 2006
Christopher arrives from Vienna for his junior year at Boston College. This is the year that he has to find his own housing, but he looks pretty cheerful for a 21-year-old with nowhere to live, and whose luggage was lost by the airline. Notice his empty hands!
Later that day, Christopher's friend Brandon greeted him at BC with a warm floor to sleep on.

September 3, 2006
Laura moves into Simmons! Here, Miriam tries to get the network up, while Laura checks out the closet

September 1, 2006

News flash! Scott buys his first new car... ever! It's a Chrysler Town & Country minivan, the mini-est of minivans.

July, 30, 2006
In a small attempt to simplify life, we've eliminated the separate voicemail boxes on our home telephone. No longer will you have to hear 'if you want Scott Blake, press 1; if you want...'. And no longer will you have to choose between Scott and Miriam when leaving a message.

July, 24, 2006
Laura has returned from a South American (Rio de Janiero and Beunos Aires) tour with the Minnetonka Chamber Choir.

July, 22, 2006
Our one-year anniversary of moving into the condo at Brookside Mill. We celebrated by re-organizing the storage space in the garage. Very romantic! Some day we're supposed to be the beneficiaries of an onsite hydroelectric plant powered by Stony Brook.

July 7, 2006
Just returned from a week of vacation in Boca Raton, Florida, and also visited Miriam's 'Aunt' Cis in Pompano Beach. Cis's daughter Barbara was there too, packing her up to spend hurricane season with her in Bethesda, MD. Scott shot some great video of Cis reminiscing about the old days in Springfield.

July, 2006
Scott signed up with Angel Flight this year. So far he's made two trips, both to Presque Isle, ME.

June 23, 2006
After a tough battle with cancer, Em's 14-year-old cat Ashleigh was put to rest today. Here she is with Em and Laura in 1993.

June 19, 2006
Em has returned from a month in Costa Rica, where she helped build a house. Here's Em ziplining in Monteverde.

May 20, 2006
Scott and I helped out Corgi Rescue by giving a lift to Ace, a six-year-old headed from Oswego, NY, to his new home in Framingham. Ace did fine in the airplane. He barked some at the left engine to help get it started, but after that he pretty much settled down for the ride. The air traffic controllers were pretty tickled to see Ace listed on our flight plan. Oswego notified us in the air that 'our canine passenger is waiting in the lounge.' We let them know we weren't counting on Ace for any tailwind assistance on the way home :-)
